Christopher Nolan's new film The Odyssey, adapted from Homer's epic, has revived international interest in ancient narratives and Mediterranean maritime culture. In Turkey, the Troy Museum Maritime Exhibition Area, realized through a partnership between the 360 Degree Historical Research Association and the Troy Museum, with support from Enerjisa Üretim, reinterprets this ancient tradition through experimental archaeology.
As part of the project, the Hippoi vessel, which symbolizes the epic journey in the Odyssey and features a signature horse figure at its bow, was reconstructed at the 360 Degree Historical Research Association's campus in Urla. Built using the mortise-and-tenon technique without metal fasteners, the replica was relocated to the Troy Museum as a permanent exhibit.
Following the film's release, an open letter was written to director Christopher Nolan with the theme "The ship you forgot is in Troy, every journey begins in Troy," reminding him: "If you are looking for your ship, it is in Turkey, at the Troy Museum."
