Researchers at Flinders University have developed a biodegradable plastic film using calcium caseinate (milk protein), modified starch and bentonite nanoclay. The study reports that the film can fully disintegrate in soil in around 13 weeks, highlighting its potential for more sustainable food packaging applications.
