Important Step from Borusan for the Future Working Ecosystem

Operating under the vision of "People First, Pioneering and Reliable Borusan," Borusan has announced its new Human Rights Policy covering employees, suppliers, business partners, and contractors. Developed in line with international standards, the framework guarantees equal opportunity, AI digital rights, climate-driven fair transition, and ethical reporting mechanisms.

Borusan has formalized its "people-first" approach across all operational processes and value chain activities through its newly published Human Rights Policy. Valid across Borusan Holding and all group entities, the policy sets minimum standards not only for direct employees but also for suppliers, business partners, and contractors.

Referencing international standards, the policy addresses conventional labor rights alongside emerging priorities driven by technological transformation and climate challenges. Key focus areas include:

  • Equal Opportunity and Inclusion: Recruitment, promotion, and remuneration are strictly based on merit and performance, backed by a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) approach.

  • Artificial Intelligence and Algorithmic Bias: Digital transformation processes safeguard against algorithmic discrimination, ensuring data minimization, human oversight, and data privacy.

  • Climate and Just Transition: The impacts of climate change and energy transitions on employees and local communities are managed under just transition principles.

  • Fair Pay and Working Hours: Adhering to the "Equal Pay for Equal Work" principle, the policy supports fair remuneration, legal working hours, and flexible working arrangements.

  • Zero-Tolerance Principles: Zero tolerance is maintained against child labor, forced labor, human trafficking, harassment, violence, and mobbing.

Due Diligence and "Orange Ethics" Reporting Channel

To ensure effective execution, Borusan implements a systematic "Human Rights Due Diligence" process based on risk assessments. Stakeholders can report potential non-compliance confidentially or anonymously through "Orange Ethics" reporting channels, which feature anti-retaliation protections. The policy is scheduled for review at least once a year.

Executive Statement

Nursel Ölmez Ateş, Group Head of People, Communication and Sustainability at Borusan Holding, stated:

At Borusan, we view respect for human rights as a core element of our way of doing business and corporate culture. We believe every individual has the right to live and work in dignified, safe, inclusive, and fair conditions. In today's world, human rights responsibility is not limited to our own operations. Recent developments, from technology to climate change, require us to look at human rights from a broader perspective covering our suppliers, business partners, and entire value chain. Therefore, with our Human Rights Policy, we present a framework aligned with international principles and commit to respecting the rights of all stakeholders who may be affected by our activities.
