Nobel AFF and Sanofi Partner on Vaccine Manufacturing in Kazakhstan

Nobel AFF, operating under the umbrella of Turkey-headquartered Nobel İlaç and the first GMP-certified pharmaceutical manufacturer in Kazakhstan, has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with French healthcare leader Sanofi for the localized packaging and production of human vaccines in Kazakhstan. Following manufacturing agreements with Roche in oncology biologics and AstraZeneca in cardiometabolic therapies, this partnership expands advanced technology transfer and biopharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities across Central Asia.

The preliminary protocol was signed by Selçuk Tanrıverdi, Chairman of the Board of Nobel İlaç and General Manager of Nobel AFF, and Stephen Alix, Head of International Vaccines at Sanofi. The bilateral agreement establishes the operational framework to advance technical validations, regulatory filings, and quality systems required for the localized packaging and fill-finish manufacturing of essential vaccines within Kazakhstan.

The alliance aims to scale domestic industrial biomanufacturing capabilities, enhance specialized technical human capital, and secure domestic supply resilience for preventive immunization programs across the region.

Multinational Manufacturing Portfolio: Roche, AstraZeneca, and Sanofi

The agreement adds to Nobel AFF's growing track record of manufacturing partnerships with multinational pharmaceutical enterprises in Kazakhstan:

  • Roche Partnership: Localized production of specialized biotechnological oncology therapeutics.

  • AstraZeneca Partnership: Secondary manufacturing of therapies indicated for chronic kidney disease (CKD), chronic heart failure, and type 2 diabetes.

  • Sanofi Partnership: Knowledge and technology transfer for the secondary packaging and staged localized manufacturing of critical public health vaccines.

Executive Perspective from Selçuk Tanrıverdi

Selçuk Tanrıverdi, Chairman of the Board of Nobel İlaç and General Manager of Nobel AFF, stated:

“Collaborations established with multinational pharmaceutical leaders reflect the international validation of our technological infrastructure, production discipline, and quality assurance systems. Following our localized manufacturing partnerships with Roche in oncology biologics and AstraZeneca in cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic therapies, this vaccine partnership with Sanofi cements our status as a trusted regional contract manufacturing and development partner.

By uniting our R&D capabilities, advanced manufacturing assets, and regulatory expertise with the scientific portfolio of our global partners, we generate sustainable healthcare value. We are confident that this strategic collaboration with Sanofi will advance local biomanufacturing competencies, accelerate technology transfer, and safeguard uninterrupted public access to essential, high-quality vaccines across Kazakhstan.”
