Rising Energy Costs Bring Thermal Insulation Back into Focus: Efficiency Becomes a Necessity

Surging energy costs are once again highlighting the importance of thermal insulation in buildings. In Türkiye, nearly 28.8% of the population faces structural issues, while 27.9% struggles with heating due to insufficient insulation. Experts emphasize that proper insulation can deliver billions of dollars in long-term savings.

Rising global energy costs and ongoing geopolitical tensions have placed energy efficiency back at the top of the agenda. As the need to reduce energy consumption in both residential and industrial settings increases, thermal insulation is emerging as a key solution for economic sustainability.

Agah Durukal, General Manager of Türk Ytong, emphasized the importance of efficient energy use:

“To reduce heating costs, we must use energy more efficiently and develop saving strategies. Thermal insulation is an essential investment for both the national economy and household budgets.”

Insulation Deficiency Remains a Key Issue in Türkiye

A significant portion of residential buildings in Türkiye still lack adequate insulation. According to official data:

  • 28.8% of the population lives with issues such as leaking roofs, damp walls, and deteriorated window frames
  • 27.9% experiences heating problems due to insufficient insulation

Rapid urbanization, climate change, and increasing temperature fluctuations are driving higher energy demand in both summer and winter.

$11.5 Billion in Savings Over 62 Years

Durukal highlighted Türk Ytong’s long-standing contribution to energy efficiency:

“For 62 years, we have been producing solutions that prevent heat loss in buildings. Thanks to Ytong products, Türkiye has achieved over $11.5 billion in foreign currency savings through energy efficiency.”

The company operates production facilities in Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bilecik, Antalya, and Tekirdağ, contributing significantly to the national economy.

Energy Efficiency Is No Longer Optional

Approximately 40% of Türkiye’s total energy consumption is used for residential heating, making insulation a critical factor in reducing overall demand.

Ytong products enable buildings to reach Class A energy efficiency standards without additional insulation applications, while their lightweight structure also enhances seismic safety.

Multipor: Sustainable and Safe Insulation Solution

Experts stress that improper insulation materials and applications can significantly increase energy consumption. Therefore, both material selection and correct implementation are crucial.

Türk Ytong’s Multipor Thermal Insulation Board offers:

  • Mineral-based, breathable structure
  • Moisture regulation to prevent mold formation
  • A1-class non-combustibility for high fire safety
  • Production using natural and locally sourced raw materials

Multipor provides an efficient and safe insulation solution, particularly for high-rise buildings, combining energy efficiency with structural safety.
