Across the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and tissue paper manufacturing sectors, energy represents the second-largest operational expenditure (OpEx) after raw materials. In high-consumption industrial operations, integrating artificial intelligence with smart energy management serves as a critical driver for margin preservation and decarbonization. Hayat Kimya, parent company to 16 global brands including Bingo, Molfix, and Papia, has reached a key milestone in its digital transformation strategy by deploying a proprietary AI-powered energy management architecture at its flagship Kocaeli Campus.
Initiated five years ago, the software infrastructure processes real-time energy generation and consumption metrics alongside production schedules, operational constraints, and changing utility tariff rates. Fully integrated with the campus’s on-site cogeneration infrastructure, which supplies approximately 80% of the facility’s electricity and thermal energy requirements, the system dynamically determines the most cost-effective energy mix and load-sourcing timing on a 24/7 basis.

Cogeneration Optimization and Global Rollout Plans
Outlining the system's operational architecture and long-term scaling strategy across international manufacturing sites, Sabri Çakmak, Global Energy Director at Hayat Kimya, noted:
We aim to establish a holistic structure that manages energy from production to consumption, and from cost to operational efficiency, rather than merely producing or purchasing it. This system contributes not only to our company but also to the national economy and current account deficit reduction by lowering energy import dependency. The system concurrently evaluates production schedules, real-time energy consumption, cogeneration capacity, grid conditions, and shifting cost parameters. By continuously benchmarking alternative energy consumption scenarios, it pinpoints the optimal timeframes to activate specific power sources. Following performance validation at our Kocaeli Campus, we plan to adapt and roll out this system across our other manufacturing facilities worldwide.
Following pilot testing at the Kocaeli site, Hayat Kimya plans to expand this AI framework across its broader manufacturing footprint in Turkey and international markets.
