Ömer Tunaz Named Commercial Marketing Director of AKO Group

Bringing over a decade of cross-border experience within the tire and automotive sectors, Ömer Tunaz will lead global and domestic trade marketing strategies for AKO Group’s comprehensive brand matrix, including Petlas, Starmaxx, AKO Battery, and AKO Rims.

As vehicle electrification trends, raw material price volatility, and structural supply chain re-alignments intensify competitive boundaries inside the automotive components space, manufacturing groups are prioritizing hyper-localized and data-driven B2B trade platforms. Managing one of the largest consolidated industrial manufacturing networks for tires, rims, and battery units in the region, AKO Group has officially realigned its commercial leadership framework. The conglomerate announced the appointment of industry veteran Ömer Tunaz as its new Commercial Marketing Director, effective June 2026. Tunaz will direct channel optimization models, multi-brand asset positioning, and dealer-network digitalization tracks across both domestic and sovereign export markets.

Managing Multi-Brand Complexity: Orchestrating 9 Industrial Labels

Under his new executive mandate, Tunaz will take over direct accountability for the commercial marketing lifecycle backing components dispatched from AKO Group’s vertically integrated manufacturing lines. His portfolio links nine prominent heavy-duty and consumer brands:

  • Tire Divisions (Passenger, Commercial, Agricultural & OTR): Petlas, Starmaxx, Falken, Dunlop, Milestone, Funtoma, and Harvester.

  • Energy & Wheel Component Divisions: AKO Battery and AKO Rims (AKO Jant).

Tunaz will steer the long-term deep differentiation mapping for each independent label, coordinate specialized distributor allocations, and calibrate marketing budgets to lock in sustainable compound annual growth rate (CAGR) metrics.

Middle East and Africa (MEA) Market Deployment Pedigree

Initiating his corporate career in 2014, Tunaz commands a specialized multi-functional profile spanning field execution, product pipeline management, and global business development. His tracking record includes distinct milestones:

  • Fleet and Regional Distribution Architecture: Early in his tenure, he structured heavy-duty fleet sales agreements and regional distribution pipelines, mastering the logistics variables that dictate downstream product turnover.

  • Industrial and Off-the-Road (OTR) Asset Tracking: Supervised continuous product management and localized operational marketing frameworks for high-value industrial, construction, and agricultural tire applications.

  • Cross-Border Expansion Steering: Successfully directed brand development initiatives across complex emerging corridors, managing tier-1 supplier representation throughout Turkey, Africa, and the Middle East (MEA).

Tunaz will deploy his comprehensive cross-border knowledge to enhance the global marketing matrix of AKO Group, driving the enterprise's high-volume industrial assets toward higher market share gains.
