DHL Supply Chain & Biogen Turkey Expand Cold Chain Partnership

DHL Supply Chain Turkey, a business unit of DHL Group, and Biogen Turkey, a subsidiary of the global biotechnology company specializing in neurology, rare diseases, and immunology, have expanded their logistics partnership. Scaling from warehousing services initiated last year, the new agreement establishes an end-to-end healthcare logistics infrastructure encompassing customs bonded warehousing, 2–8°C temperature-controlled storage, value-added services (VAS), and active nationwide cold-chain distribution.

Managed at DHL Supply Chain Turkey’s secure facility on the European side of Istanbul, Biogen’s temperature-sensitive biopharmaceutical therapies are handled under validated 2–8°C environments. To support the expanded service portfolio, DHL Supply Chain Turkey has deployed capital to enlarge its active temperature-controlled fleet. Equipped with real-time telematics and digital condition monitoring, these dedicated vehicles ensure therapies reach healthcare institutions across Turkey under uninterrupted product integrity and full regulatory compliance (GDP).

The partnership directly supports DHL Group’s global "Strategy 2030," which prioritizes Life Sciences & Healthcare as a key growth driver, while advancing Biogen’s mission to secure sustainable patient access for specialized therapeutics.

Technical Infrastructure and Service Scope

  • Validated Thermal Storage: Biopharmaceutical consignments are maintained within continuous 2–8°C controlled cold storage and bonded warehousing supported by 24/7 security and environmental alarms.

  • Active Cold-Chain Transport: Specialized refrigerated vehicles featuring integrated IoT sensors deliver real-time spatial and thermal traceability across distribution lanes directly to hospitals and medical facilities nationwide.

  • Integrated VAS Solutions: The facility provides secondary packaging, country-specific labeling, and compliance verification within an integrated logistics network.
