Established in 1996 by Ron and Lizzy Stone as a composite moulding workshop, the company joined the Milbank Group in 2017 to scale technical production capabilities. In January 2026, the company rebranded from Sui Generis International to SGI Composites to align its identity with its engineering operations.
Its track record spans deliveries for infrastructure and commercial projects including St Pancras International, Ascot Racecourse, Frimley Park Hospital, Lloyds of London, Tesco, and Network Rail.
Specialized product portfolios include GeoMet modular composite seating, Safe Tread GRP anti-slip surface systems, and Safe Spill industrial containment units.
Engineering Integration and Materials Sourcing
SGI Composites combines digital surveying and finite element analysis (FEA) with certified manufacturing processes:
Circular Resin Adoption: Utilizing rPET resins since 2022, the company incorporates material sourced from over one million recycled plastic bottles annually, cutting associated carbon emissions by over 45% compared to conventional petroleum-based resins.
Quality Management: The Colchester manufacturing operations hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications.
Recent Deployments: Projects include approximately 2,500 linear meters of rooftop GRP access walkways and service infrastructure installed at Frimley Park Hospital.

Rita Cornwell (Managing Director, SGI Composites):
"Reaching 30 years is a significant milestone for SGI and a chance to recognize everyone who has contributed to the business along the way. While a lot has changed since 1996, that experience gives us a strong foundation for the future. We are continuing to invest in our people, our capabilities, and more sustainable ways of manufacturing."
