INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe has introduced a new hybrid polymer grade, Recycl-IN rPP1025C, aimed at increasing recycled content in cosmetics packaging. The company states that the new product provides brands with a more sustainable packaging alternative “without compromising on quality or performance.”
According to INEOS, the Recycl-IN hybrid approach combines high levels of mechanically recycled plastic with advanced “booster” polymers, enabling both higher recycled content and reduced CO₂ emissions.
Targeted Solution for Thin-Walled Packaging Components
Developed as a natural-colour polypropylene homopolymer, rPP1025C is positioned for thin-walled injection moulding and fibre extrusion. The product is intended for use in rigid, coloured or translucent cosmetics packaging components such as caps, jars, mascara reservoirs and caps, roll-on balls, and dispenser parts.
INEOS describes rPP1025C as a “true drop-in solution.” The company notes that the grade offers processing ease, mechanical strength and optical properties close to virgin polypropylene, while providing a 35% lower carbon footprint.
In terms of compliance, INEOS adds that the recycled inputs are covered by an FDA No Objection Letter (NOL), and the material has been certified by RecyClass in line with ISO 14021 standards as Post-Consumer Recyclate (PCR).
This launch marks INEOS’ second Recycl-IN hybrid grade developed specifically for cosmetics packaging, expanding the portfolio that began with rPP2030C.
