KATİM Earns TURKAK Accreditation, Gains International Lab Status

KATİM, the Chemistry Technology Center established by IKMIB, has been officially accredited by TURKAK under the TS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, gaining international recognition as a certified laboratory.

The Chemistry Technology Center (KATİM), founded by the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (IKMIB), has been officially accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK) in accordance with the TS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard. With this accreditation, KATİM has achieved the status of an internationally recognized testing and analysis laboratory.

This certification formally confirms that the test, analysis and reporting services provided by KATİM comply with international standards. In addition, the center stands out for its capacity to perform certain tests and analyses that had not previously been conducted in Türkiye, using domestic resources.

Thanks to its accreditation, KATİM will now offer laboratory services with international validity to chemical manufacturers and exporters. This is expected to strengthen the industry’s global competitiveness.

Adil Pelister, Chairman of IKMIB, shared the following remarks regarding the achievement:

"As the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (IKMIB), we are proud that the Chemistry Technology Center we launched in line with our Vision 2030 objectives has been accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK) under the TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard. This certification officially confirms the international competence of our center. The accreditation process was completed in a shorter time than originally planned, and as a result, the test, analysis and reporting services we offer have now gained global recognition.

A total of 39 tests, which were previously carried out abroad, will now be performed in Türkiye using local and national capabilities for the first time. This is a significant achievement for our industrialists and exporters operating across 16 sub-sectors, including cosmetics, plastics, rubber and paint.

This important step will strengthen the competitiveness of our chemical industry, and I sincerely hope it will contribute positively to the future of the entire sector."
