Migros Generates Clean Energy Equivalent to the Needs of 57,000 Households

Migros has significantly expanded its renewable energy capacity with more than TRY 2 billion in solar power investments over the past three years. Reaching 11 solar power plants across 8 provinces in Türkiye, the company now has clean energy generation capacity equivalent to the needs of more than 57,000 households.

Migros has increased the total installed capacity of its solar power plants to 105.3 MWp as part of its renewable energy investments. With this capacity, the company now meets 24% of its annual energy needs from the solar power plants it has established.

Over the past three years, Migros has invested more than TRY 2 billion in solar energy. In 2025, the company added solar power plants in Kırşehir, Malatya Yazıhan, Erzurum Pasinler, Erzincan Tercan and Ağrı Eleşkirt to its existing plants in İzmir, Adana and Muğla.

Spread across a total area of 1,000 decares throughout Türkiye, these projects strengthen the company’s clean energy generation capacity while supporting a more sustainable and cost-efficient approach to meeting its energy needs.

183,650 High-Tech Panels Installed

Migros’ operational solar power plants now cover a total area of 1 million square meters. The plants use 183,650 high-tech panels.

With this capacity, Migros’ solar power plants have reached a generation level equivalent to the energy needs of more than 57,000 households.

The company’s solar investments also deliver significant environmental benefits. Migros’ solar power plants are expected to prevent more than 81,000 tons of carbon emissions annually.

“Our Goal Is to Offer End-to-End and Efficient Renewable Energy Solutions”

Şevki Tuncer, General Manager of Migen Energy and Electric Vehicle Charging Services Inc., the wholly owned Migros subsidiary coordinating the company’s solar power projects, said Migros continues to grow strongly in renewable energy.

Tuncer emphasized that the 11 solar power plants across 8 provinces represent an important step toward Migros’ goals of reducing carbon emissions by 42% by 2030 and reaching net zero carbon by 2050, stating:

We are expanding our experience in this field across our entire ecosystem, from our customers to our suppliers and business partners. As Migen, our goal is to offer end-to-end and efficient renewable energy solutions. We will continue to develop innovative solutions ranging from energy supply and clean energy investments to electric vehicle charging stations and joint efficiency projects.

Migros’ solar energy investments stand out as a notable example in the retail sector for clean energy use, carbon reduction and energy efficiency.
