YEO Teknoloji Signs $58.6 Million Turnkey Energy Storage Contract in Azerbaijan

YEO Teknoloji has signed a $58.6 million EPC-F contract with Azerbaijan’s national grid operator Azerenerji CJSC to deliver a 250 MWh turnkey Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Equipped with batteries manufactured by subsidiary REAP Battery at its Istanbul plant, the project expands YEO's total energy storage footprint in Azerbaijan to 790 MWh.

Turkish engineering and energy solutions provider YEO Teknoloji has secured a major infrastructure award to expand Azerbaijan's national grid flexibility. Under an EPC-F (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Financing) delivery model, YEO Teknoloji signed a $58.6 million agreement with national grid operator Azerenerji CJSC for a utility-scale 250 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

The capital expenditure will be financed through local banking institutions under a structured four-year repayment tenure, consolidating turnkey engineering execution with export credit solutions.

Portfolio Reaches 790 MWh Across Azerbaijan

The new contract marks the continuous scaling of YEO's regional storage deployments:

  • Grid Integration (500 MWh): Two standalone projects contracted in 2025 achieved commercial operation in Q2 2026.

  • Nakhchivan Facility (40 MWh): A $9.5 million agreement was formalized in August 2026 for a 40 MWh system in Nakhchivan.

  • Latest Award (250 MWh): The current $58.6 million project elevates YEO Teknoloji’s cumulative deployed and pipeline battery storage capacity in Azerbaijan to 790 MWh.

Batteries Manufactured by Subsidiary REAP Battery

Scheduled for commissioning within 12 months, the installation encompasses high-voltage grid interconnection, power conversion units, and software integration:

  • Domestic Manufacturing: Battery racks and enclosures will be supplied by YEO's specialized battery storage manufacturing subsidiary, REAP Battery, from its Tuzla facility in Istanbul.

  • System Scope: Involves complete delivery of Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Battery Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), alongside a dedicated high-voltage substation.
