Under the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) enacted in 2026, standard customs clearances are no longer sufficient for importing carbon-intensive industrial goods. Importers are mandated to quantify embedded production greenhouse gas emissions and surrender the corresponding volume of CBAM certificates.
Formalized by the Dutch Emissions Authority (Nederlandse Emissieautoriteit - NEa) on September 7, 2026, SINTEK B.V. obtained official accreditation as an Authorized CBAM Declarant. The status eliminates intermediate regulatory barriers, securing unbroken logistics and procurement pipelines for European industrial construction projects.
First Annual Declaration Scheduled for September 30, 2027
Covering all qualified cross-border entries executed during the 2026 calendar year, SINTEK B.V. will submit its first verified annual return into the official CBAM Registry by September 30, 2027. The submission will disclose aggregate imported product quantities, calculated embedded carbon intensity, and the surrendered volume of CBAM carbon certificates.
Statement from CEO İlker Bozkurt
İlker Bozkurt, CEO of SINTEK B.V., commented:
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism mandates calculating, reporting, and pricing greenhouse gas emissions embedded in goods entering the European Union. Covering sectors such as cement, iron and steel, aluminum, fertilizers, electricity, and hydrogen, importers must account for embedded emissions and surrender the equivalent CBAM allowances. To execute these protocols autonomously, possessing the 'Authorized CBAM Declarant' designation is mandatory.
SINTEK B.V. has officially completed this accreditation. Consequently, we can now import CBAM-regulated commodities sourced from Turkey and other non-EU markets directly in our own name while managing regulatory declarations and certificate settlements in-house. Beyond regulatory compliance, this status delivers strategic supply chain continuity and operational certainty across our ongoing European industrial commitments.
