The Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (İKMİB) launched its first sectoral trade delegations of 2026 in Africa, aiming to boost the export potential of the plastic home and kitchenware industry. Delegations held in Casablanca from January 4–7 and in Lagos from January 12–15 allowed participating companies to conduct market research, visit retail channels on site, and engage in face-to-face meetings with potential buyers.
242 B2B Meetings in Casablanca
Organized in cooperation with GEEM, the Morocco delegation brought together 31 representatives from 20 Turkish companies. In addition to market visits to better understand local dynamics, 242 bilateral business meetings were conducted with 42 Moroccan buyer companies. The program was also attended by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Rabat, Mustafa İlker Kılıç, and Casablanca Commercial Counselor Burcu Özergül Çolak. İKMİB Chairman Adil Pelister and sector representatives met with participating firms during the event.
Retail Tours and Nearly 200 Meetings in Lagos
The second delegation took place in Lagos, Nigeria, with participation from 13 representatives of 11 Turkish companies. As part of the program, retail tours were organized to key locations such as Orca Mall, SPAR Market, and Mega Plaza. Accompanied by İKMİB Board Member Ali Küçük, the delegation held nearly 200 B2B meetings with 55 Nigerian buyer companies.

Pelister: “We Bring Our Companies Together with Strong Partnerships in High-Growth Markets”
İKMİB Chairman Adil Pelister said the delegations were designed to establish long-term commercial ties in Africa.
“With the two sectoral trade delegations we organized to Morocco and Nigeria in January, we brought our companies together with buyers in high-growth markets across Africa and North Africa. We believe that on-site market research and qualified B2B meetings have laid the groundwork for lasting business relationships,” he said.
Pelister also shared export figures for the sector. Exports of home and kitchenware to Morocco reached USD 104 million in 2024 and approximately USD 87 million in 2025, while exports to Nigeria totaled USD 13 million in 2024 and around USD 15 million in 2025. In plastic home and kitchenware specifically, exports to Morocco rose from USD 28.1 million in 2024 to USD 30.2 million in 2025, while exports to Nigeria increased from USD 158,000 to USD 344,600 over the same period. “In 2025, total exports of the plastic home and kitchenware sector exceeded USD 666 million. As İKMİB, we will continue to organize initiatives that strengthen our sectors’ exports and expand access to new markets with determination,” Pelister added.
