Philips Tops European Patent Rankings in Medtech, Secures No.1 Position at EPO

Royal Philips has ranked No.1 among medical technology companies in the European Patent Office’s (EPO) 2025 Technology Dashboard. The company filed 676 medtech patent applications in 2025 alone. AI-driven innovation continues to power its strong pipeline in health technology.

Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology, has secured the top position in medical technology in the European Patent Office’s (EPO) 2025 Technology Dashboard. The ranking highlights the company’s continued leadership in healthcare innovation.

In 2025, Philips filed 676 medical technology patent applications with the EPO, including a significant number focused on artificial intelligence (AI). This reflects the company’s strong innovation pipeline centered on data-driven and platform-based health solutions.

Marnix van Ginneken, Member of the Board of Management at Royal Philips, emphasized that the company’s success as a leading EPO applicant demonstrates the strength of its innovation engine and its commitment to meaningful innovation in healthcare and self-care. He noted that Philips’ strategy is powered by data, AI, and platform-based solutions to deliver better care to more people.

Philips’ innovations improved the lives of 2 billion people in 2025. The company aims to reach 2.5 billion people annually by 2030, including 400 million individuals in underserved communities.

  • Helium-free 3.0T MRI technology, enabling more sustainable and precise diagnostic imaging.
  • Verida spectral CT system and Rembra CT, delivering faster and more accurate diagnostic insights.
