New Investment from DESA in Biomaterials

DESA announced the establishment of Nuera Sürdürülebilir Biyofabrikasyon Teknoloji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. with a capital of 40 million TL for biomaterials R&D, production, and commercialization. The wholly owned subsidiary will integrate traditional craftsmanship with next-gen material technologies.

DESA has announced a new strategic step into the biomaterials sector following its Board of Directors meeting on August 5, 2026. The company decided to establish Nuera Sürdürülebilir Biyofabrikasyon Teknoloji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. to research, develop, manufacture, and commercialize biomaterials.

Operating as a 100% subsidiary of DESA, Nuera Sustainable Biofabrication will have an initial capital of 40 million TL, fully funded by DESA. DESA will serve as a legal entity member on the new subsidiary's board of directors, with DESA CEO Burak Çelet appointed to act on behalf of the company.

Complementing Heritage with Future Materials

The new structure is designed not to replace DESA's core expertise in animal leather production, but to complement it. DESA aims to maintain its traditional leather processing and craftsmanship while expanding into new production technologies and biomaterial solutions.

Executive Statement

Burak Çelet, CEO of DESA, stated regarding the investment decision:

DESA is built on leather, a production culture, and a strong heritage of craftsmanship. We want to maintain our pioneering role in our industry not only by preserving our current expertise, but also by understanding the future world of production and materials today. We see our investment in biomaterials not as a departure from this heritage, but as a new step carrying it into the future. Animal leather will continue to be an important part of our business and expertise. Alongside this, we aim to make next-generation materials a part of our production capabilities. With Nuera Sustainable Biofabrication, we want to bring together our craftsmanship, manufacturing power, and sectoral experience with the materials and technologies of the future.
