Türkiye’s Inclusion Seen as a Critical Step for Industry
The announcement that Türkiye will be included in the EU’s Made in Europe framework has been welcomed by the business community as a significant step for the country’s industrial ecosystem. The decision is expected to strengthen Türkiye’s role in European production networks, particularly in automotive, machinery, white goods, textiles and the chemical sector.
Sibel Zorlu, Chair of the Board of the Aegean Industrialists and Business People Association (ESİAD), described the outcome of negotiations with the European Union as a crucial development for industries with strong manufacturing ties to Europe.
According to Zorlu, Türkiye’s inclusion in this framework could create important opportunities for industrial competitiveness and investment decisions.
EU Industrial Acceleration Act to Reshape Supply Chains
The Made in Europe approach, introduced within the scope of the European Union’s Industrial Acceleration Act, aims to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness by giving priority to components produced within the European industrial ecosystem in public procurement and supply chains.
Zorlu noted that Türkiye’s participation is particularly important for sectors that have long been integrated into European production networks.
She stated that industries such as chemicals, automotive, machinery, white goods and textiles have been key components of European value chains for many years.
The decision is expected to strengthen the position of Turkish companies in the European market and support new investment and production decisions in favor of Türkiye.
New Opportunities for Green and Digital Industrial Transformation
Zorlu also highlighted the broader strategic importance of the development. The move could deepen industrial cooperation between Türkiye and Europe, especially in areas such as green transformation and digitalization.
In the coming period, the legislative process of the framework is expected to progress, while discussions on the modernization of the Türkiye–EU Customs Union may also return to the agenda.
She emphasized that as European industrial policies evolve, Türkiye, with its strong manufacturing capacity and industrial infrastructure, will continue to play an important role in European value chains.
