Kimpur Obtains ISCC PLUS Certification for Its Gebze and Düzce Production Facilities

Kimpur, a global player in polyurethane systems, has taken another significant step in line with its sustainable production approach by obtaining ISCC PLUS certification for its Gebze and Düzce production facilities. With this achievement, Kimpur will be able to offer ISCC PLUS certified polyurethane systems and polyester polyols by utilizing bio-circular and recycled raw materials in response to customer demands.

ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is an internationally recognized certification system that ensures traceability throughout the entire value chain, from the sourcing of sustainable raw materials to the final product. By guaranteeing the verifiable use of bio-circular and circular raw materials, the system also provides a transparent and reliable sustainability management framework. Within this scope, Kimpur has successfully completed a comprehensive audit process conducted by an independent body recognized by ISCC.

Sustainability Integration Across the Value Chain

Under the certification, Kimpur will integrate raw materials derived from bio-circular sources, as well as post-consumer and industrial waste, into its production processes through a mass balance approach. This enables the incorporation of sustainable raw materials into products without altering existing production processes or compromising performance.

By including ISCC PLUS certified raw materials in its supply chain and allocating them through the mass balance approach, Kimpur will be able to offer certified products across various polyurethane applications, including polyester polyols, rigid foam, flexible foam, CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers), and footwear applications.

Kimpur is already producing PET-based polyester polyols derived from post-consumer plastic waste as part of its recycled content product development efforts. In this process, post-consumer PET waste is converted into intermediate products and used in polyester polyol production. With the ISCC PLUS certification, these products are also brought under certification scope, making Kimpur’s existing circular economy solutions aligned with international standards and verifiable.

Commenting on the development, Tuncay Halat, Deputy General Manager of Sales, Marketing and Sustainability at Kimpur, stated:

“We are very pleased to obtain the ISCC PLUS certification for our Gebze and Düzce facilities. With this certification, we have documented our existing practices within an internationally recognized system, making the solutions we offer to our customers more transparent and verifiable. Through the mass balance approach, we will continue to develop more sustainable products while preserving our current production infrastructure. This achievement further strengthens Kimpur’s commitment to developing high-performance polyurethane systems and polyester polyols without compromising on sustainability.”

With this certification, Kimpur aims to expand its sustainable product portfolio, build stronger collaboration with its business partners, and support its customers in achieving their sustainability goals by contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.
