Applications have officially opened for the 6th cycle of the UN Global Compact Türkiye Climate Ambition Accelerator. The program, designed to help companies set science-based emission reduction targets and develop credible net-zero transition strategies, will begin in May 2026. The application deadline is April 30, 2026.
The initiative supports companies in aligning with Science Based Targets (SBTi) and strengthening their net-zero transition roadmaps, regardless of their current stage in the sustainability journey.
Global Warming Data Signals Urgent Action
With 2025 recorded as the third hottest year in history, and the global average temperature between 2023 and 2025 exceeding 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, the need to accelerate climate action has become increasingly urgent.
At this stage of the climate crisis, countries are expected not only to announce targets but also to implement measurable and actionable strategies. COP31, set to play a central role in upcoming climate diplomacy, represents a critical milestone in this regard.
Türkiye’s role as host and presiding country of COP31 is seen as a strategic opportunity to accelerate progress toward its Net Zero 2053 target and strengthen its position in global climate governance.
Private Sector Plays a Key Role in the Net-Zero Transition
The active and committed participation of the private sector will be decisive in Türkiye’s green transformation. Companies have the capacity to develop solutions aligned with the 1.5°C pathway, mobilize finance accordingly, and implement transformation efforts not only within their own operations but across their entire value chains.
Since its launch in 2021, the Climate Ambition Accelerator has reached more than 8,000 participants across 90 countries. In Türkiye alone, over 130 companies have joined the program. Participants gain access to global best practices, capacity-building sessions, and international peer-learning platforms to strengthen their net-zero strategies.
