Matlı Group Expands Renewable Energy Budget to $160 Million

Matlı Group is increasing its renewable energy investment budget to $160 million with new solar and wind projects. Adding 10 new plants to its 27 existing SPPs, the Group aims to raise its solar consumption share to 60% within one year.

Supporting its integrated production operations across agriculture, food, and livestock with sustainable power, Matlı Group is widening its renewable energy roadmap. Currently operating 27 solar power plants (SPP), the Group has allocated over $40 million to solar energy and plans to raise its total renewable energy investment budget to $160 million through upcoming wind power developments.

Solar Share in Electricity Consumption to Reach 60% Within a Year

Preparing to add 10 new solar power plants to its existing fleet of 27, Matlı Group aims to increase the share of solar energy in its total power consumption from the current 30% to 60% within one year.

The Group operates both rooftop and ground-mounted solar installations across its integrated network:

  • Rooftop SPPs: Power manufacturing facilities directly where installed.

  • Ground-Mounted SPPs: Electricity produced at the Kırıkkale solar plant is utilized at Proyem’s Diyarbakır and Turgutlu facilities, while generation from the Afyon plant supplies the Keskinoğlu processing facility.

60 Million kWh Output in 2025: Carbon Offset Equivalent to 700,000 Trees

In 2025, Matlı Group’s 27 solar plants generated approximately 60 million kWh of electricity, equivalent to the annual power demand of roughly 20,000 households.

This generation prevented approximately 40,000 tons of carbon emissions, delivering an environmental benefit equivalent to the carbon sequestration capacity of nearly 700,000 trees.

Wind Power Assessments Underway in Four Regions

To complement its solar fleet, Matlı is conducting feasibility studies across four regions for wind energy investments. Wind measurement masts have been erected to evaluate site viability. Following data collection through the end of the year, target locations and project specifications will be finalized.

Statement from Chairman Özer Matlı

Özer Matlı, Chairman of the Board of Matlı Group, commented:

Continuity in agriculture and food production is directly linked to uninterrupted access to energy. Today, we have established significant solar infrastructure. Our next step is to complement this framework with wind energy. As we diversify our energy sources, we make these investments an integral part of Matlı’s long-term production plans.

Recognizing that our production originates from the soil and nature, we treat eco-friendly energy generation as an extension of our integrated business model. For us, the goal is not to possess nature, but to cultivate a production philosophy worthy of the resources it provides. The source of production is nature; our responsibility is the future.

Beyond environmental benefits, renewable energy represents efficiency, operational continuity, and long-term competitiveness. In the coming years, we aim to meet a larger portion of our energy needs from our own renewable sources, advancing our low-carbon production structure further.
