Ceyhan Chemical Industry Zone Officially Announced

The Chemical Industry Zone to be established in Ceyhan has been officially designated with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır said the 29.3 million square meter area will accelerate chemical investments and create tens of thousands of jobs.

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced that the Ceyhan Chemical Industry Zone, to be developed in the southern province of Adana, has been officially designated by a presidential decree signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In a statement shared on social media, Kacır noted that the zone will cover an area of 29.3 million square meters, adding that the decision is expected to make a significant contribution to the city, the region, and Turkish industry.

Kacır emphasized that the designation marks a critical milestone in Türkiye’s goal of scaling up its chemical industry. He said the Ceyhan zone is expected to emerge as a strategic hub that will both attract major investments and generate substantial employment.

According to figures shared by the minister, Türkiye’s chemical exports have increased from $2.7 billion to $32 billion over the past 23 years. Kacır also recalled that incentives provided to large-scale projects over the last decade have paved the way for $19 billion in investments across the sector.

With the establishment of the new industry zone, the government aims to transform Ceyhan into a production and supply hub for integrated chemical industry investments, Kacır said. He added that projects designed to reduce the current account deficit in chemical products will be prioritized, while efforts to expand production capacity in strategic areas and support high value-added investments will continue.
