Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) has won two blocks in Libya’s long-awaited oil and gas exploration and production tender, marking the country’s first licensing round in 17 years. The bidding process covered 22 blocks, including 11 onshore and 11 offshore areas.
C3 Onshore and O7 Offshore Blocks Awarded
According to the Tender Committee of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC), TPAO secured the C3 onshore block in partnership with Spanish energy company Repsol.
The committee also announced that the O7 offshore block was awarded to a consortium comprising TPAO, Repsol, and Hungary-based MOL.
Results Announced at Official Ceremony
The announcement ceremony was attended by Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh, Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Abdussadiq, NOC Chairman Masoud Suleiman, and representatives of several international energy companies.
First Licensing Round Since 2009
Libya’s Ministry of Oil and Gas had previously confirmed that the country launched a new exploration and production tender last year for the first time in 17 years, offering 22 blocks—11 onshore and 11 offshore.
