Sustainability Shift: "Textile Water Management Program" Launches with Strategic Webinar

Aiming to boost water efficiency and circularity in Türkiye's leading export sector, the program highlighted global trends and brand expectations for manufacturers.

The "Textile Water Management Program," initiated by BCSD Türkiye in strategic partnership with İTHİB and sponsored by Beymen Group and SANKO Holding, held its first official webinar. Launched during a critical period where 88% of Turkish land faces desertification risks, the program focuses on a holistic approach to reducing water consumption, wastewater recovery, and technical transformation.

Water: No Longer Just an Input, But a Strategic Asset

Industry leaders at the opening session emphasized that water management has evolved beyond environmental responsibility into a strategic necessity to maintain Türkiye's competitiveness in the global value chain. The webinar specifically addressed the transformation requirements within the supply chain and what global brands now expect from their manufacturers.

Ediz Günsel, Chairman of BCSD Türkiye, summarized the urgency:

A sector's success is no longer measured solely by production figures, but by how it manages its resources. Water management is a strategic area that will strengthen Türkiye's production power and export competitiveness.

Industry Leaders Call for Urgent Transformation

Sponsors and stakeholders noted that managing the economic and operational risks of water stress is now vital for brand reputation and access to finance:

  • Beymen Group: Announced their commitment to transforming producers and suppliers under the "Beymen Promise" framework.

  • SANKO Holding: Highlighted that climate change impacts are now measurable, making water management a decisive factor for supply chain resilience.

  • İTHİB: Stated that "The textile of the future will be the textile that uses water efficiently," calling for collective industry action.

2026 Roadmap: From Training to Technical Site Visits

The Textile Water Management Program will feature an intensive schedule throughout 2026. Key dates for industry professionals include:

  • June 4: Training on water efficiency and wastewater recovery.

  • June 5: Workshop on water reduction techniques and global best practices.

  • June 30: Webinar on financing sources and green credits.

  • September 17-18: Legislation workshop and an industrial zone (OSB) technical site visit.
