New Leadership Role at AIFD
The Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (AIFD) has strengthened its leadership structure with the appointment of Dr. Pharm. Nihan Burul Bozkurt as Deputy Secretary General.
Bozkurt has been serving as Director of Health Policies at AIFD since 2021. In her new role, she will continue leading the Health Science Policy Strategic Management Committee while also overseeing AIFD’s international relations.
Her responsibilities will include managing the association’s engagement with global pharmaceutical organizations such as:

EFPIA – European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations

IFPMA – International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations
Bozkurt will also serve as co-spokesperson of AIFD alongside the Secretary General.
Extensive Academic and Public Sector Experience
Dr. Nihan Burul Bozkurt graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Hacettepe University, where she later completed both her master’s and PhD degrees in pharmacology.
She began her professional career in 2000 as a research assistant at Hacettepe University’s Faculty of Pharmacy and conducted research on Alzheimer’s disease as a visiting researcher in several countries.
Throughout her career, Bozkurt has held several key roles:

2014–2016: Clinical Director at Novagenix Bioanalytical Drug R&D Inc.

2016–2021: Head of the Clinical Trials Department at the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK)
Driving Türkiye’s Clinical Research Strategy
Since joining AIFD in 2021 as Director of Health Policies, Bozkurt has played a significant role in shaping the association’s policy initiatives.
She led the work of the Health Science Policy Strategic Management Committee and contributed to accelerating Türkiye’s alignment with global regulatory best practices. She also played a key role in the development and advancement of AIFD’s clinical research strategy.
