BioBond Adhesives, Inc. announced the launch of BioAdhere SUP250, a new industrial adhesive developed for bonding metal and glass surfaces. According to the company, the product is designed to meet key requirements in defense and mobility markets, including durability, long service life and structural strength.
Focus on Environmental and Human Health
BioBond stated that BioAdhere SUP250 features very low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, is virtually odorless and is manufactured without added microplastics. The company also noted that the adhesive does not contain PFAS chemicals, which are known for their long-lasting presence in the environment.
The product has been certified under the US Department of Agriculture’s BioPreferred Program and is manufactured entirely in the United States, the company said.
Alternative to Traditional Joining Methods
BioBond CEO Marc McConnaughey said the new adhesive offers competitive performance and pricing, positioning it as a viable alternative to traditional joining methods such as bolts, rivets and welding.
Greg Piche, vice president of product development, added that demand is increasing in the defense and mobility sectors—particularly for platforms such as uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs)—for lighter structures and materials capable of withstanding harsh operating conditions.
Investment in Rural Economies
BioBond also noted that it is the second portfolio company launched under Big Idea Ventures’ Generation Food Rural Partners (GFRP) fund, with a significant portion of the investment directed toward supporting manufacturing and job creation in rural areas of the United States.
