Otokar Commissions 10 MW Solar Power Plant in Malatya

Otokar, a Koç Group company, has completed the installation and commissioned its 10 MW Solar Power Plant (SPP) project in Malatya as part of its clean energy investments. Expected to generate 19 million kWh of electricity annually, the facility will supply approximately 60 percent of the manufacturing plant's total power consumption.

Operating in the automotive and defense industries, Otokar continues its renewable energy investments in line with its carbon footprint reduction and operational energy efficiency strategies. The new SPP project configured in Malatya features approximately 19,000 solar panels, 2 units of 6 MVA transformers, and 34 inverters.

The annual 19 million kWh of clean energy to be generated via the 10 MW installed capacity plant will cover a major portion of the electricity needs of Otokar's manufacturing facilities. This milestone remains critical for lowering carbon emission ratios in industrial plants and optimizing operational energy indices.

Green Transformation and Carbon Emission Targets in Manufacturing

Evaluating the operational scale of the renewable energy project and the company's environmental sustainability projections, Otokar General Manager Aykut Özüner stated the following:

For more than 60 years, we have been shaping the transportation technologies of the future with the vehicles we design and manufacture. Today, we fulfill our responsibility toward nature and future generations not only with our vehicles but also with our production processes. The 10 MW solar power plant we commissioned in Malatya represents a significant milestone in our target to reduce our carbon footprint in production. The fact that we will supply 60 percent of our factory's electricity needs from renewable sources demonstrates the importance we attach to environmental sustainability. We will continue to use our engineering power to support green transformation not only in our products but also at every stage of our operations.
