LG Accelerates AI Strategy with Strategic Silicon Valley Visit

LG Chairman Kwang Mo Koo visited Silicon Valley to advance the company’s AI commercialization strategy and explore key partnerships in enterprise AI and robotics. Meetings with Palantir and Skild AI signal a stronger push toward industrial AI transformation and next-generation robotics.

LG Moves to Strengthen AI Commercialization

Kwang Mo Koo, Chairman and CEO of LG Corp., visited Silicon Valley, the global hub of artificial intelligence innovation, to accelerate LG’s AI transformation strategy. The visit focused on scaling AI commercialization and enhancing execution across the company’s business portfolio.

On April 2, Koo met with Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir Technologies, to discuss AI-driven decision-making systems and real-world transformation cases enabled by Palantir’s Ontology platform.

Focus on Data-Driven Industrial Transformation

Palantir’s success in integrating large-scale data with AI-powered decision-making across manufacturing, finance, and logistics sectors drew particular attention. Koo explored potential benchmarking opportunities and ways to strengthen LG’s execution capabilities in industrial environments.

Entering the Era of Physical AI

Koo also visited Skild AI, a leading company in physical AI, where he met co-founders Deepak Pathak and Abhinav Gupta. During the visit, he observed a live demonstration of a humanoid robot powered by Skild AI’s advanced intelligence systems.

Discussions centered on how physical AI ecosystems could transform industrial operations, particularly in manufacturing and logistics environments.

Expanding Robotics and AI Investments

Skild AI, founded by Carnegie Mellon University professors Deepak Pathak and Abhinav Gupta, is recognized as a key player in robotic AI, particularly in the development of Robotic Foundation Models (RFM), often described as the “brain” of intelligent robots. The company has attracted strategic investments from global leaders such as SoftBank and NVIDIA.

LG has already integrated robotics technologies into service, delivery, and logistics operations through Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR). More recently, the company has expanded its focus toward humanoid-based home robotics.

Last year, LG entered into a strategic partnership with Skild AI and made an equity investment through LG Technology Ventures.

Industrial AI Robotics on the Horizon

LG CNS plans to develop industrial AI humanoid robot solutions based on Skild AI’s RFM technology, optimized with manufacturing and logistics data. These next-generation systems are expected to handle tasks that conventional robots struggle to perform.

By combining Skild AI’s core AI capabilities with its own robotics solutions, LG aims to accelerate its robot services business across industrial sectors.

Supply Chain Collaboration Also Under Consideration

Separately, LG Innotek is exploring potential collaboration opportunities with Skild AI in component supply, signaling a broader strategic alignment across LG’s ecosystem.

LG’s Silicon Valley visit highlights a clear strategic direction toward AI-driven industrial transformation and robotics innovation. The partnerships explored during this visit are expected to play a critical role in shaping LG’s next phase of technological growth.
