WindEurope’s Board of Directors has appointed Tinne Van der Straeten as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer. Van der Straeten, who previously served as Belgium’s minister responsible for energy and climate policy, will lead one of the most influential bodies representing Europe’s wind energy sector.
Speaking after her appointment, Van der Straeten emphasized that renewable energy must remain at the heart of Europe’s energy transition. She underlined the importance of scaling up wind power investments and strengthening the sector’s capacity to support Europe’s climate and energy security goals.
With a strong background in energy policy and sustainability, Van der Straeten is expected to bring extensive political and sectoral experience to WindEurope. Industry observers anticipate that the new leadership period will further reinforce the organization’s role in shaping European wind energy strategies and supporting innovation across the sector.
WindEurope plays a central role in representing the wind energy industry across Europe, working closely with policymakers, companies, and stakeholders to advance renewable energy deployment. Under Van der Straeten’s leadership, the organization is expected to intensify efforts to expand wind energy, support economic growth, and contribute to Europe’s long-term net-zero targets.
