The international AXIS project brings together industry and academia to develop an advanced platform for managing industrial mobile robots through artificial intelligence. Supported by TÜBİTAK and Hungary’s National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NKFIH), the project is conducted in partnership with Siemens Türkiye, İzmir Institute of Technology (İYTE), evosoft Hungary Kft., and Óbuda University.
24-month program targeting real-world deployment
The 24-month development program aims to deliver field-ready prototypes and validated industrial use cases. It is also designed to create a scalable framework that can be commercialized internationally.
Autonomous robotic ecosystem powered by AI agents
The AXIS platform is designed to enable different types of robots, including quadruped robots, wheeled mobile robots, AGVs and robotic arms, to operate autonomously and collaboratively in dynamic industrial environments.
Key capabilities of the platform include:
- Autonomous route planning and navigation
- Real-time data collection through sensor fusion
- 3D spatial scanning and digital twin generation
- Task management and intelligent data interpretation via AI agents
This approach enables a new generation of robotic ecosystems where machines collaborate and adapt to changing environments.
High-precision operations with digital twins and vision systems
The project combines high-accuracy 3D simulations and digital twin models with advanced image processing algorithms to enhance the precision and reliability of visual inspection tasks.
The solution addresses critical use cases such as industrial defect detection, instrument reading, thermal inspection and facility digitalization.
Cross-sector transformation potential
The AXIS platform targets real-world operational needs across multiple industries, including manufacturing, energy, logistics, automotive, infrastructure and security.
With AI-driven autonomy, the system enables:
- Real-time collaboration between robots
- Safe and autonomous inspections in hazardous environments
- Reduced downtime and operational costs
- Vendor-independent integration and flexible deployment
Strategic collaboration between Türkiye and Hungary
The project combines Türkiye’s strengths in industrial digitalization and smart manufacturing with Hungary’s advanced capabilities in AI and robotics research. Siemens Türkiye’s engineering expertise and İYTE’s academic foundation play a key role in the initiative.
AXIS is positioned as a strategic technological bridge that will create long-term industrial, scientific and economic impact between the two countries.
